SlyPilot started as a fast virtual-desktop switcher and grew into a desktop companion: a floating Touch Bar, window tools, over 550 offline voice commands, optional AI actions on the text you select, and a command line and agent bridge for your scripts, all free. The optional SlyPilot Pro adds AI dictation, natural voices, offline meeting notes and a phone remote. Different people use different slices of it.
Each page below starts with the pain you probably know, shows what SlyPilot does about it with the real shortcuts and menu names, and ends with a short "day with SlyPilot" so you can picture it in use.

| Persona | Key Pain Points Solved | Key Features Leveraged |
|---|---|---|
| Software Engineers & Developers | Windows piled on one desktop, context-switching fatigue, moving to a browser tab to understand an error, agents that cannot see your screen. | A desktop per job with auto-routing, tiling and dev scenes, AI Actions on selected code and error text, per-program Touch Bar buttons you define, command line and SlyCtl.exe, MCP agent automation with approvals on your phone. |
| Digital Artists & Creative Pros | No keyboard in slate mode, pen press-and-hold circles on tool windows, canvas clutter, reference material scattered, client mail between paintings. | Per-program button sets that also appear on the radial menu and your phone, Surface Pen and Dial controls, app voice packs (Photoshop, Blender, Premiere, Figma), reference desktops with a live-preview peeker, AI-assisted client replies, text expander. |
| Power Multitaskers & Financial Traders | Multi-monitor layout chaos after un-docking, finding one window among dozens, long notes to read, discretion on a busy floor. | Workspace snapshots and optional display-layout memory, Quick Jump and the live-preview Window Peeker, rescue, boss-key stash, AI summaries of selected text, mic mute with an ON AIR indicator. |
| Accessibility & Hands-Free Users | RSI, carpal tunnel, motor impairments, painful chords and long emails. | 550+ voice commands, click by name and a numbered grid, text expander and voice AI edits, large focus-safe touch controls; with Pro: latching AI dictation and a phone as a trackpad and microphone. |
| Writers & Knowledge Workers | A slow first draft, quotes trapped in pictures, one-slot clipboards, round trips to another tool for every edit, confidential drafts. | AI Actions editor, clipboard history, screen OCR, text expander; with Pro: push-to-talk AI dictation with optional AI polish, natural-voice read-aloud proofreading, meeting notes for interviews. |
| Students & Researchers | Lectures you cannot transcribe live, unselectable readings, hard texts, a semester of scattered notes. | Screen OCR, AI explain / summarize / translate, a workspace per course; with Pro: Meeting Notes with summaries and palette search, natural-voice read aloud, AI dictation. |
| Managers & Meeting-Heavy Roles | Notes nobody wrote down, a fumbled unmute, the reply between two meetings. | Mic mute and the ON AIR pill, meeting layout, timers, AI reply drafts, text expander; with Pro: Meeting Notes with decisions and action items. |
| Support & IT Pros | "It does not work" with no information, reaching a PC on a shelf, gluing small jobs together. | Setup Doctor and the redacted diagnostics report, plain-text settings with automatic backup and repair, command line, SlyCtl.exe, JSON agent API and MCP; with Pro: phone remote. |
| Presenters, Couch Setups & Standing Desks | Walking back to the laptop to change a slide, a keyboard across the room, recording sessions you cannot touch, a shelf PC that needs a nudge. | The Phone Remote (SlyPilot Pro): trackpad, presentation panel, live typing and dictation, screen view, your Touch Bar, agent approvals. |
| Teachers & Trainers | Explaining with a pointer you cannot see, a room that cannot read the screen, software training where nobody sees the shortcut, a lesson that runs over. | The drawing board, spotlight, click highlight, shortcut display, countdown, Presenting mode, a tablet or pen display. |
| Low Vision & Reading Support | Small text, tired eyes, a small laptop, losing the text cursor, a screen shown to a room. | The Magnifier (glass, typing glass, strip, loupe), read aloud with the line outlined, light theme and UI size, big buttons for touch and pen. |

🧩 Features That Show Up Across Many Personas
- AI Actions: select text anywhere, ask a model to fix, shorten, translate, explain or answer, and click to accept. Off until you set it up; the model is your choice (setup guide).
- Meeting Notes (SlyPilot Pro): an offline transcript and optional summary of a call, only after you agree, with a visible indicator.
- Phone Remote (SlyPilot Pro): your Android phone (Chrome) as trackpad, keyboard, microphone, Touch Bar and screen view over your own Wi-Fi (guide).
- Voice commands (free, offline, the Windows recognizer) and AI dictation (SlyPilot Pro; the free program opens Windows Voice Typing instead): speech engines that run on your PC.
- Per-program Touch Bar buttons: sets you define for each program.
- Command line, SlyCtl and Stream Deck: everything the tray does is also a command.
🌟 What Every Persona Gets
- Zero Focus Loss: helper windows and the Touch Bar never steal keyboard focus or move your typing caret.
- Local-First Privacy: SlyPilot's own speech engines keep your audio on your PC (Windows Voice Typing, which the free program opens for dictation, is a Windows feature and may use Microsoft's online service). Text goes out only if you set up an optional feature (AI actions with an outside service, the update check, model downloads), and each is named and off until you choose it. Privacy details →
- Optional Everything: voice commands, AI actions, the text expander and agent control (free), and the Pro parts (AI dictation, meeting notes, the phone remote, natural voices) are all off until you switch them on.
- Standalone Portability: one program (about 13 MB) with the AutoHotkey interpreter and its helper built in, so no separate runtime has to be installed.
