Meeting Notes: An Offline Transcript of Your Calls, Made on Your PC
Press Ctrl+Alt+Win+T and SlyPilot writes down what is said in your call: your microphone as "You" and the sound your PC plays as "Them". The words are
SlyPilot Pro. This feature is part of SlyPilot Pro, the optional one-time purchase (the free SlyPilot works without it). It is locked until you enter a licence: tray icon > Help and Backup > SlyPilot Pro... opens the window with the Buy button and a box for your licence key. The key is activated online once (no account), and Pro then works offline for up to 30 days between automatic renewals; an offline licence file works too.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Win+T and SlyPilot writes down what is said in your call: your microphone as "You" and the sound your PC plays as "Them". The words are turned into text by the speech engine already on your PC, saved as a plain-text transcript in a folder only you use, and, if you like, summarized by the AI model you chose. A red indicator stays on screen the whole time, and you start it yourself, every time.

2026-10-09_1430_Meeting.md (plain text)Off until you agree. Meeting Notes does nothing until you accept a consent window, and it needs a speech engine set up on your PC (tray menu → Voice Commands → AI Speech Settings (Set Up Automatically)...). No audio is kept and nothing is sent anywhere.
✨ At a Glance
| What you want | What Meeting Notes gives you |
|---|---|
| Notes of a call without a cloud service | An offline transcript: the speech engine runs on your PC and the audio is never uploaded. |
| Know who said what (roughly) | Two voices: You (your microphone) and Them (everything the PC plays). It does not identify individual speakers. |
| A trail you can read, search and keep | A plain-text file per meeting with timestamps, in a folder next to nothing that syncs by accident. |
| Decisions and action items | Optional summary from your AI model: Summary, Decisions, Action items, Open questions, placed at the top of the file. |
| Find what was said last week | In the command palette, type m budget to search your saved transcripts and summaries. |
| Ask a question about a meeting | a what did we decide about the budget @meeting or say "ask AI about my meeting". |
| Nothing recorded behind your back | A visible red indicator, a consent window, a reminder of what to tell the other people at every start, and no way to start it except you. |
⚡ Start a Meeting in Three Steps
- Start it. Press Ctrl+Alt+Win+T, or tray menu → AI and Meetings → Meeting Notes (offline transcript) → Start Meeting Notes.
- Agree.
- The first time a consent window explains what is recorded (your microphone and the sound this PC plays), that recording other people can need their consent where you live, where files go, and how to stop. You must answer Yes.
- Every start asks "Start recording meeting notes?" and gives you a sentence to say to the other people, for example "I am recording this call for my own notes." (You can switch this per-meeting question off in the same menu: Ask before every meeting.)
- Talk. A red pill appears at the top right of your main screen, on every virtual desktop, with the elapsed time. Click it for a small menu with Stop meeting notes and Open the transcript so far. You can also stop by pressing the shortcut again, or with the tray entry Stop Meeting Notes (recording).
When you stop, SlyPilot finishes the last pieces and shows "Meeting notes saved" with the file name.
🗂️ What the Transcript Looks Like
A plain-text Markdown file, named with the date and time. It opens in Notepad, or any editor you like:
# Meeting notes
Started: 2026-10-09 14:30
Transcribed on this PC.
[00:00:12] Them: ...what the other side said...
[00:00:20] You: ...what you answered...
---
Duration: 00:42:10(Illustration of the format; the words are yours.)
- Lines are sorted by time, so the conversation reads in order even when the two streams were transcribed separately.
- Quiet stretches are skipped. Noise labels such as
[BLANK_AUDIO]and quiet "thank you" hallucinations that speech engines produce on silence are dropped. - If a stretch cannot be turned into text, the file says so on that line instead of silently skipping it.
The echo guard
When your speakers are on, your microphone also hears the other people. SlyPilot compares the two streams: a line of yours that repeats a "Them" line from the same moment (within about 8 seconds, at least 5 different words, a close match) is dropped as an echo. Short replies like "yes" or "okay" are never dropped, the final line of the file says how many were removed, and [SlyMeeting] EchoGuard=0 switches it off. A headset avoids the problem altogether.
Only the other side
In the same menu, untick Include my microphone to record only the sound your PC plays, for instance when you are only listening to a webinar. The indicator then reads "PC sound only".
🧾 Summaries From Your AI Model
Tray menu → AI and Meetings → Meeting Notes (offline transcript) → Summarize a Transcript... opens a file picker. SlyPilot asks the model you set up in AI Actions for notes in four parts: Summary, Decisions, Action items and Open questions, and puts them at the top of that transcript file.
- A small model on your PC is enough (the built-in one included). A long transcript is cut into pieces that fit the model, summarized piece by piece and merged; a second run replaces the first.
- The prompts tell the model to use only what is said and never to invent names, dates or numbers, and the transcript is handed over as data to take notes of, never as instructions (anyone in a call could say anything). The answer is only ever written into the file as text. The model can still be wrong, and the note says so.
- A model outside your PC is refused unless you allowed outside models in AI Actions Setup, and then SlyPilot asks for every single transcript, naming the host that would receive it.
- Summarize when a meeting ends (same menu, off by default) does it automatically when a recording with at least three lines stops, under exactly the same rules.
- For a better summary you can give meetings their own model:
[SlyAction] MeetingModel.
🔎 Find and Ask
| You do this | What happens |
|---|---|
Ctrl+Alt+Space, then m budget | The command palette lists lines from your saved transcripts and summaries that contain every word you typed (the space after m matters). Enter opens that transcript. |
a summarize @meeting | Asks your AI model about the newest saved transcript (the end of it when it is long). A model outside your PC is asked about it every time. |
| "ask AI about my meeting" | The voice version: say your question afterwards. |
Tray → Meeting Notes (offline transcript) → Open Transcripts Folder opens the folder in Explorer.
💬 Live Captions
Press Ctrl+Alt+Win+C (or say "show live captions") and what your PC plays, a call, a video or a talk, appears as text in a bar at the bottom of the screen while it plays.
- Made on your PC by the same speech engine, in short pieces so the words show within a second or two. Nothing is saved: no audio, no text.
- Only the sound of the PC, unless you switch on Include my microphone.
- Translate as you go: right-click > Translate to > a language. Each line goes to your AI model (from AI Actions Setup); a model outside your PC asks once before anything is sent.
- Out of the way: the bar never takes the keyboard focus. Drag it where you want it; right-click for the text size, the number of lines and Stop.
- Not while Meeting Notes record (they listen to the same sound).
- What was said: right-click > What was said... lists the session's lines with their times, kept in memory until captions start again.
🧭 The Meeting Copilot
While meeting notes or live captions run, a small corner card answers the questions you'd rather not ask out loud: Summary, Action items, What did they ask? (the last two minutes) and Catch me up (what you missed while away). Say "catch me up" or "what did they just ask". Only the stretch you ask about goes to your AI model; a model outside your PC shows you the lines first.

🔒 Privacy and Control
- You are always the one who starts it. No command-line switch, voice command, macro, MCP tool or AI agent can start a recording. Only your click, your shortcut or the indicator.
- Consent first. A restored settings backup cannot give consent: it is asked again on a new setup.
- Visible while it runs. The red indicator cannot be hidden, and it is pinned to every virtual desktop.
- No audio is kept. The sound is cut into short pieces in a private temporary folder; each piece is deleted as soon as SlyPilot has read it, and a leftover folder from a crash is cleaned up the next time you start a meeting.
- Nothing is sent anywhere. The speech engine runs on your PC. The only exception is a summary through a model you chose outside your PC, with the two questions above.
- Transcripts live in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\SlyPilot\Transcripts, not next to the program (which may sit in a synced folder). They are never written to the log or a diagnostics report, never exported with your settings and not readable through the agent interface. - Delete them any time: Delete All Transcripts... in the menu removes only the files SlyPilot made. Or set
[SlyMeeting] RetentionDays=Nin the settings file to delete transcripts older than N days (the default keeps them). - It records sound, not windows. SlyPilot's protected-window rules (password managers, private browsing) do not apply to what is spoken or played, so mind what is said aloud while it runs. A transcript holds only the words and their timestamps, never window titles.
⚖️ A Note on the Law
Recording other people can need their consent, and the rules differ by country, state and workplace. Meeting Notes reminds you at every start and gives you a sentence to say aloud, but the responsibility is yours: tell the other people, and follow your employer's and your region's rules. This page is not legal advice.
✅ Good to Know
- A speech engine is required. Set one up once (AI Speech Settings); Meeting Notes uses it, so the speed and accuracy are those of your engine and your PC. Speech engines can mishear names and technical terms.
- Dictation goes first. While you dictate, meeting pieces wait their turn and are transcribed right after.
- Time limit. A recording stops by itself after 3 hours by default (
[SlyMeeting] MaxMinutes). It also stops if the recording devices go away. - Default devices. It records your default microphone and the default playback device. If no microphone can be opened, SlyPilot says so and records only the PC's sound.
- Two voices only. "You" and "Them". Several people on the other side all appear as "Them".
- Change the shortcut in tray → Help and Backup → Show Shortcuts... if
Ctrl+Alt+Win+Tcollides with another program. - Unusual audio setups (virtual audio devices, Bluetooth headsets in call mode) have not been tested; try a short test meeting before you rely on it for something important.
