Changing the mouse pointer has three usual routes: Windows' Mouse panel (Pointers tab: one file per pointer, schemes, and right-click > Install for a pack's install.inf), Windows Settings (Accessibility > Mouse pointer and touch: a style, one colour and a size for Windows' own pointers), and Stardock's CursorFX (a paid program with effects, trails and the WinCustomize library). SlyPilot's Cursor Themer is a fourth, free one, built for Windows 10 and 11.

🧭 What Is Different About the Cursor Themer
- Packs from the web, safely. The
install.infmost packs come with is read, never run, and every pointer is rewritten before Windows opens it. You never need administrator rights to change your own pointer. - A pointer you cannot see undoes itself. Keep these pointers? goes back after 15 seconds unless you keep it.
- Pointers in any colour, for any eyes. Sixteen styles drawn by SlyPilot in any colour (Neon, Sticker, Aurora, Glass, Pixel, Chrome, Pop, Facet, Paper cut, Hologram, Blueprint, Puffy and Halftone among them), with an outline that shows on light and dark backgrounds; High contrast for low vision.
- It goes with the rest of SlyPilot. Matching Sets put on a pointer pack and a sound pack that belong together in one click (eleven built-in sets drawn on your PC, or save your own); Modes, Presenting mode, voice, the command palette and AI assistants can change the pointers, and every change can be undone.
✋ When Another Tool Is the Better Choice
- You want effects and trails (glows, click animations, motion trails): CursorFX does them; the Cursor Themer changes the pointers themselves. (SlyPilot's presenter tools can highlight the pointer and clicks while you present.)
- You change one pointer once a year: the Mouse panel does that.
- You only want Windows' pointer bigger or in one colour: Settings does that, and the Cursor Themer keeps working with it.
🔁 Using Them Together
- The Mouse panel and Settings write the same Windows pointer settings: the last one you change wins. When that replaces a SlyPilot pack, the Cursor Themer asks whether to put it back (Always does it without asking); a size change is left alone.
- Packs made for the Mouse panel (a zip with an
install.inf) open in the Cursor Themer directly.
